According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American Diabetes Association:
- Approximately 1,334,918 people in Ohio, or 13.5 percent of the population, have diabetes.
- Of those, an estimated 286,000 have diabetes but don’t know it, greatly increasing their health risk.
- In addition, 35.3 percent of the adult population in Ohio have pre-diabetes.
- On average, a person with diabetes spends nearly four times as much money on healthcare as someone who does not have diabetes.
