Women’s History Month is an intentional time to highlight the contributions of women from the past, and celebrate the history-makers among us today.
During the month of March, we will be celebrating female healthcare heroes in our world and within Kettering Health. Each week, we will send you resources like books, podcasts, documentaries, movies, and TV shows that commemorate and encourage the study, observance, and celebration of the vital role women play in our lives. We will also be sharing local women-owned businesses we recommend visiting and supporting.
Resources for week one will be posted on Monday, March 7 and weeks two, three, and four will be posted each following Monday. We invite you to come back to this page each week and join us in celebrating Women’s History Month.
As a faith-based, leading health care provider, Kettering Health has a responsibility to promote positive change within the communities that we serve. Our goal is to accept and recognize people of all backgrounds, embracing and celebrating differences while unifying our workforce through service and living our God-given mission. We aim to be a model environment in which we recognize the uniqueness of each individual we serve, which helps us fulfill our commitment to improve the health of our communities.

At Grace Lane Boutique we hope to do our small part in changing the fashion industry in a way that focuses on honoring and celebrating the people behind the clothes we wear.
Many shoppers tend to prioritize fast trends and cheap prices above all else and it has damaging effects on the people who make our clothing and the environment. This encourages companies to drive prices and lower quality.
As more of us choose to put people first when it comes to making our purchasing decisions, the clothing industry will be forced to as well. Together, as we continually shop consciously, we will tell an industry that all people are valuable, deserve fair wages, safe working conditions, equality and empowerment.
We hope to make Grace Lane Boutique a safe environment to find ethically made and sustainable fashion, while creating a movement and a platform for social good.

Smales Pretzel Bakery began in 1906 as Gem City Pretzels. In 1926, Emma Smales took over the business from her father, relocated it to its current location at 210 Xenia Ave., and renamed it Smales Pretzel Bakery. Since then, Smales has been passed down through four more generations and is currently owned be the second Emma Smales. Smales serves soft and hard pretzels, made the same way since its inception—hand-twisted and baked in a stone oven. They can be purchased at the bakery, in a few local stores, on their website, and from their brand-new pretzel truck.
