Each day, our team members go above and beyond to create exceptional experiences and make a meaningful difference for those we serve and for one another.
Excellence in Action recognizes individuals who notice what’s needed and choose to step in—taking initiative, showing courage, and following through to make things better. Whether solving a problem, supporting a colleague, or improving someone’s experience, their actions reflect ownership, empathy, and sound judgment.
Their efforts make a real impact and help define the level of care and service we strive to deliver every day.

The most meaningful moments in health care happen when there are no easy words, only the opportunity to be present and provide compassionate support. Lindsay demonstrated that kind of care by walking alongside a family during one of the most difficult moments they would face.
Lindsay went above and beyond in providing postmortem care and remained with the family throughout their loved one’s end-of-life process. She was attentive to their needs, offering a calm and compassionate presence that helped the family feel safe and supported. The trust they placed in Lindsay during such a vulnerable time speaks to the genuine care she provided.
Lindsay also demonstrated exceptional attention to detail by ensuring all required paperwork was completed and the appropriate phone calls were made. Her willingness to manage these important responsibilities allowed the family and care team to focus on what mattered most.
Her actions reflect Kettering Health’s values of Wholeness, Excellence and Belonging. Through compassion, teamwork and thoughtful follow-through, Lindsay helped create a caring and respectful experience for a family during an incredibly difficult time.
Lindsay, thank you for being an amazing nurse and for bringing compassion, leadership and genuine care to those you serve. Congratulations on being recognized for your Excellence in Action!
A clean, welcoming environment can make a meaningful difference, especially in a place caring for some of our most vulnerable patients. During her time supporting the NICU, Tina went above and beyond to create an environment where patients, families and teammates could feel cared for and supported.
Tina brought extraordinary dedication to her work, thoroughly cleaning and detailing the NICU with a level of care and attention that left a lasting impression. Multiple team members independently recognized her efforts, sharing that she cleaned areas of the department that had never received that level of attention before. Through her hard work, the unit was transformed, with staff describing it as “sparkling” after her efforts.
Just as meaningful was the positive spirit Tina brought to the department. She took time to connect with staff, ask about the unit’s needs and do everything she could to support patient care. Her kindness, professionalism and willingness to go the extra mile helped boost team morale and created a more welcoming atmosphere.
Tina’s actions reflect Kettering Health’s values of Excellence, Belonging and Wholeness. Her work helped create a cleaner, healthier environment for fragile infants and their families while reminding her teammates how much thoughtful service can impact an entire unit.
Congratulations, Tina, on being recognized with the Excellence in Action Award! Thank you for the care, positivity and dedication you bring to those you serve. Your efforts truly made the NICU shine.
When a critical moment unfolds, calm leadership and the ability to act quickly can make all the difference. For one family, Meagan’s expertise and steady presence helped guide their loved one through a frightening moment in the ICU.
Following a mitral tissue valve replacement, the patient began to struggle to breathe. Her oxygen saturation quickly dropped as she fought for air. In the midst of the urgent situation, Meagan stepped forward and took charge. She quickly directed the team to try BiPAP to restore the patient’s airway and oxygenation rather than immediately re-intubating. The intervention worked, and the patient’s oxygen saturation was restored.
Later, the patient shared, “I thought I was dying. I could see you all, but I could not breathe. It all started to go dim.”
Throughout the patient’s stay, Meagan also provided calm, compassionate care, explaining things clearly and offering reassurance to the patient and family. Her actions flawlessly reflected Leadership and Excellence, demonstrating the power of expertise, trust and teamwork when it matters most.
Meagan, thank you for your courage, compassion and leadership, and for being part of a team that supports one another. We are honored to recognize you with this Excellence in Action Award! Congratulations!
Many times, supporting your team means stepping in wherever you are needed. When a coworker unexpectedly went home ill, Kelly did just that, making sure patients across the floors continued to receive the attention they needed.
Kelly was scheduled to facilitate ID rounds for patients on the second floor, but when her teammate was unexpectedly unavailable, she stepped up and took on the additional responsibility of rounding on patients throughout other floors as well. Her willingness to ensure continuity and support for the team and patients does not go unnoticed.
Kelly’s actions reflect Kettering Health’s values of Leadership and Excellence. Rather than focusing only on one responsibility, she recognized a need and stepped in to help, demonstrating the kind of teamwork and dependability that makes a difference during an unexpected challenge.
Congratulations, Kelly!
