During Environmental Services Week 2026, Kettering Health recognizes the Environmental Services (EVS) professionals across our facilities who help create safe, clean and healing environments for patients, visitors and caregivers every day.
EVS Week, observed nationally between Sept. 13 and 19, is dedicated to honoring the essential role EVS teams play in supporting patient safety and infection prevention.
Across hospitals, emergency centers and outpatient facilities throughout the Kettering Health system, EVS professionals maintain the spaces where care happens. From disinfecting patient rooms and high-touch surfaces to ensuring public areas are clean and welcoming, their work helps protect patients and supports a culture of safety across the organization.
“We recognize the essential role you play in supporting a safe and healing environment for our patients, families and staff,” said Cristiane Santana Barnabas, chief operating officer of Kettering Health Main Campus. “Your efforts are a vital part of our mission, and even when challenges arise, your hard work matters. Every step you take to care for our spaces helps all of us work together toward better outcomes.”
Barnabas also thanked EVS team members for demonstrating Kettering Health’s B-SAFE Habits through their daily work.
“Your dedication to our B-SAFE Habits, being attentive, speaking up for safety, adopting a questioning attitude, focusing on communication, and embracing ownership, sets a positive example for all of us,” she said. “Thank you for your efforts and for your commitment to making a difference. We appreciate all you do, today and every day.”
As we celebrate EVS Week, we encourage all employees to take a moment to thank an EVS team member, share a word of appreciation or recognize the impact these professionals have on our patients and our mission. Their commitment helps ensure Kettering Health facilities remain safe, welcoming and ready for healing every day.
