Health benefits can be complicated. We want to make it easier to understand our plans and give equal access to the lowest possible premiums, making healthy lifestyles a personal choice, not a financial one.
Our health plan’s wellness incentive program is being discontinued, starting with 2025 benefits. You may have already been logging activities in ManageWell to qualify for the wellness incentive on the upcoming 2025 medical plans. Because the wellness incentive program is being discontinued, this also means that employees are no longer required to log activities in ManageWell by the August 31 deadline.
How does this impact my insurance premiums?
This does not impact your current health plan premiums. And for 2025, there will be no increase in health plan premiums, copays, or deductibles. Here’s more detail about what will happen for each Kettering Health health plan in 2025:
- PPO plan: In previous years, there were two premiums: one base premium, and a separate—lower—premium for those who completed the wellness incentive. Starting with the 2025 plan, everyone on the PPO plan will receive the lower premium rate.
- High deductible health plan (HDHP): Instead of having an employer contribution to your HSA, those dollars will be reallocated to lower your insurance premiums.
Why are we making this change?
This change makes our health plans simpler. It eliminates multiple tiers with different costs, making medical and pharmacy coverage the same for all employees on the respective health plan. In short, it makes healthy lifestyle choices personal ones, rather than financial ones.
Do I still need to do something in ManageWell?
The ManageWell platform will still be available to employees, if you would like to use it for your own personal wellness goals and participate in challenges and other events. You no longer need to complete activities in ManageWell to qualify for a lower insurance premium.
What if I already completed the required activities in ManageWell?
Employees who completed the previously required activities will be entered into a random drawing for a wellness gift card or Garmin watch.
When will I get more information about our benefit plans for 2025?
Open enrollment for 2025 benefits will begin in October. Keep an eye out for more information—including dedicated meetings and other resources—in late August. Questions?
