Did you know that a worker earning minimum wage in Greater Dayton must work 74 hours per week to afford fair market rent for a two-bedroom home? One in five households in our region are behind on rent, and a third face the danger of becoming homeless.
It doesn’t take much to make a life-changing difference.
We believe it’s our calling as a healthcare provider to support those who need it most. United Way shares this goal, and each year we partner with them to continue improving the quality of life for those in our communities. United Way of the Greater Dayton Area focuses on moving struggling individuals and families beyond financial crisis toward financial stability.
Our goal is to raise $250,000 October 31 through November 23 for United Way’s Strong Families initiative. This program helps families navigate and prevent financial crisis by ensuring families stay in their homes, become financially stable, and their children succeed in school. Because everyone deserves a safe home.
One of the many advantages of giving to United Way is the assurance that your contribution is used in the most effective way possible. Roughly 85 cents from every dollar donated goes directly back into the community we serve.
Every dollar makes a difference.
$1 buys four pounds of food for local food pantries to distribute to families and individuals in need.
$4 buys one hour in an early childhood development program for one child.
$11 buys one night of shelter for someone who is homeless.
$48 buys one hour of support services for a domestic violence victims and their children.
