Congratulations to Tara Reish, our May Living the Mission Award winner! Tara is an RN at Kettering Health Main Campus.
The Living the Mission Award is given to people who bring Kettering Health’s mission to life, demonstrating the sacred work of improving the quality of life for people in the communities we serve. They use their own time and resources to transform lives, whether that’s in one of our facilities or out in the community.
Read Tara’s nomination story below.
“Tara developed a friendship with one of the long-term patients on 3 North. The patient was here for over 100 days, and Tara was instrumental in keeping their spirits up during that time. She would take her breaks and talk with the patient. She would be there during their treatments. The patient had moments where you could see their depression increasing, but they always brightened up when Tara would spend time with them. When it was the patient’s birthday, Tara helped fix their hair and did their nails. She also bought them a cake, pizza, and gifts. She spent her own money and time to make their birthday special. Tara is still in contact with the patient and I would say that they have developed a friendship. It is one thing to care for a patient, it is an entirely different thing to become invested in a patient.
Tara also trains new nurses and has even changed her schedule from days to nights to help with staffing and charge nurse coverage. We are very glad to have her as part of our team. Thanks to Tara for living the mission of Kettering Health.”
