Kettering Health is holding its next Safety Stand Down on Wednesday, April 16, setting aside time for intentional discussions about patient safety. Units across Kettering Health will take 30 minutes to focus on policies and protocols about a specific safety topic, and this Safety Stand Down will focus on the importance of using two patient identifiers. 

Who should attend?

This is only for ED and Registration as we are focused on 2 PT ID with the arrival process.

When is it happening?

These meetings will happen across the system on April 16. Because of differences in clinical schedules, times and locations are being determined by individual departments and units. Your leader will share information specific to your unit. 

Note: During these meetings, we will continue to meet critical patient needs, so there is no interruption to their care. 

What should I expect? 

In this meeting, teams will review recent trends in our safety data, discuss policies and protocols, and talk about opportunities to improve the safety of our patients. For this safety stand down, we’ll once again focus on the importance of patient identifiers. Come prepared to talk about what patient identifiers can include, when two patient identifiers are needed, and how we refer to patients. 

What do I need to do?

Team members should come prepared to listen and provide feedback. About 15 minutes—half of the meeting time—will be reserved for discussion and feedback, as getting perspective directly from frontline team members helps us create a safer space for everyone on our units.
