Congratulations to Sarah Edsall, who earned the Living the Mission Award! Sarah works as an RN charge nurse leader in the Emergency Department at Kettering Health Troy.
The Living the Mission Award is given to people who bring Kettering Health’s mission to life, demonstrating the sacred work of improving the quality of life for people in the communities we serve. They use their own time and resources to transform lives, whether that’s in one of our facilities or out in the community.
Check out Sarah’s nomination:

“A Troy firefighter came to me to tell me his story and how Sarah was instrumental in caring for his dying father. This firefighter told me his family was from the area, and he had moved to California. Recently, he moved back and got a job with the Troy Fire Department and ended up bringing his father to KH Troy ED as his health was deteriorating, and he knew it wouldn’t be long before his dad would die. While in the ED, the firefighter had to leave the ED to go to his father’s house for some important healthcare information, but he was concerned that no one would be with his dad during this time. He said, ‘Sarah stayed with my dad in his room the entire time I was gone to make sure he wasn’t alone in case he did die. I will never forget her compassion and how she put my dad’s needs first. I’m so grateful for Sarah and Kettering Health for the care they provided my dad in his dying hours, and I will always cherish the care they gave him.’
This firefighter came to me with his story without provocation. He wanted to make sure I knew how our team, particularly Sarah, made a long-lasting impact on his final memories with his father. Stories like this don’t always get shared. Not only did it impact this firefighter and his family, but it also impacted me. I know we have so many people in our organization who impact the lives of everyone they care for without recognition, but Sarah’s actions make me proud to know her as a colleague and a friend. I would entrust the care of my family to her caring hands and compassionate heart! Thank you, Sarah, for everything you do!”
