Kettering Health Network’s public-facing website, ketteringhealth.org, will get its first complete overhaul in almost a decade.
Over the last year, we’ve done research to build the foundation of a site that puts our prospective patients and guests at the forefront. This research included
- Focus groups with every level of employee in our network
- A survey of over 4,000 website visitors
- A comprehensive analysis of our competitor’s websites compared to ours
With that information, we applied principles of user experience.
That data told us what our site visitors value. Using Hick’s Law and Jakob’s Law, we minimized choices and streamlined the navigation to be uniform with many of the most visited sites on the internet.
Our internal analytics confirmed 75% of our users are on mobile, so we implemented a mobile-first design.
Those we surveyed could not connect the dots on all the work being done across the network, so almost all data on the new site is relational. For example, if there is an article written about a provider, it lives on the website and on the provider’s profile.
A few of the high-level benefits from these improvements include
- Comprehensive search: Find what you’re looking for with results organized into condition and treatment libraries, service line pages, providers, events, and articles.
- One physician search: This search feature includes all of our medical staff, but with robust profiles and information about Kettering Physician Network providers.
- Robust content: We developed clear, search-engine-optimized content to connect with our target audiences.
- Personalization: The new site uses data to deliver the relevant information our users request based on past behavior.
Changes for employees
The new website was created with the intent to be the ultimate resource for potential patients. With that in mind, many of the employee resources have been moved or combined into other areas.
The best way to access these tools is by visiting access.ketteringhealth.org
This features our employee portal with access to MyHR and many other tools. Now it also encompasses areas from the old site labeled:
- Employees Only
- Physicians – APPs – Residents
- Vendors Only
