Through our compassionate and talented people, we live out our mission each day—in both small gestures and large moments. We’re recognizing 10 team members as February Employees of the Month for practicing one or more of our values as they carry out our mission.
Employee of the Month recognizes the people you love to work with. The winners exhibit Kettering Health’s Standards of Behavior, live out our values, and demonstrate the healing presence practices outlined in Called to Care.
Thank you for impacting the lives of those in our community by fulfilling our mission. Our work wouldn’t be possible without you!

“Rebecca is one of those people you love to have on your team because of her empathy, thoughtfulness, work ethic, and willingness to go the extra mile. Not only does she work in marketing and produce a wonderful weekly newsletter, but she also supports our students as a writing tutor, often editing papers during evenings and weekends so that students are able to meet their deadlines. Rebecca also does one-on-one and group ESL tutoring for our international students. Her kindness, patience, and encouragement during these sessions is so valuable to our students.”
“Tabitha has consistently demonstrated exceptional dedication, proficiency, and a strong commitment to our team and the well-being of our patients. When another long-term technician left, Tabitha proactively and energetically stepped up to learn all the open roles and responsibilities to ensure that the pharmacy continued to operate efficiently. Tabitha also has trained other technicians during this time, always helping when needed. She embodies the qualities we seek in an outstanding pharmacy technician.”
“Carla goes above and beyond to give kindness and compassion not only to her patients but also to her co-workers. Carla lends a helping hand with no hesitation and is always willing to help others learn and grow. On multiple occasions, she has taken the time to help me learn and grow as a new grad with complete patience and understanding.
Carla’s actions make me eager to come to work when I see that she is on the schedule, knowing that I won’t be looked down upon as a new grad due to her always willing to extend her knowledge in a patient and compassionate manner.”
“A patient was over the moon about a nurse she had in the emergency center named Ray. She told me about how her adult son, who has a number of conditions, was very upset while in the emergency center after he witnessed her fall down a full flight of stairs and was rightfully terrified for her. She said Ray was not only able to make her feel at ease but was able to calm her son down enough that he was able to not only leave her side to go back to the waiting room, but he was able to fall asleep. This was not an easy feat, and the patient was beyond amazed at his ability to do this through his compassion and patience. She stated she just could not believe her eyes when it happened. This really speaks about the type of nurse Ray is and the compassion he has for his patients.”
“Megan is always recognized for going above and beyond in her patient care. Patients often compliment her for being so friendly and smiling no matter the situation. In one particular situation, she took the time to get a patient a thank-you card and write it to him and his family. The patient was so thankful they both cried together as this patient was very sick.
Megan’s positivity is contagious and touches all patients and her peers that surround her. She is a true gem.”
“Jennifer had a post-surgical patient in therapy who had had significant complications over a weekend. When the patient arrived for therapy, she voiced significant concern over care/guidance from her surgeon’s office (not Kettering Health). Not only did Jennifer calm the patient and family, but she also reached out to get ideas from lymphedema therapists. However, the bigger impact is what Jennifer did after work. Jennifer went to Wal-Mart and purchased compression garments to help her patient. This provided huge service recovery and demonstrated kindness and compassion to help a very frustrated patient!”
“I received a letter from one of Laura’s patients who was a little apprehensive about his procedure. In the letter, the patient complimented Laura and her performance. ‘Laura was efficient, cheerful, and answered all questions satisfactorily. She displayed courtesy and had a good sense of humor. By doing so, Laura made an uncomfortable experience much more bearable. She certainly merits recognition for her professionalism and knowledge. She is a valuable asset to your staff.'”
“Stephanie lost her father earlier this year. We had an elderly veteran patient who came into the office. He desperately needed a walker and was having a really hard time getting one. Stephanie donated her father’s walker to this gentleman. The patient was very grateful. He and his family shared tears of gratitude. I know her father is looking down at her very proud!”
“When Jillian enthusiastically stepped in at the last minute to teach a high school nursing assistant class, she made a big impact on a student. This email is a perfect example of how Jillian inspires others with her teaching.”
“I want you to know how deeply grateful I am to have had you as a teacher for this program. I can tell that God has truly given you a passion for nursing and a love of teaching. Your spirit of joy, love, and compassion has really inspired me to move forward in my medical career. You did such an incredible job teaching! You asked us what we learned about ourselves over the course of the program. I realized that God has placed a desire on my heart to help and support people, specifically medically. I’m so excited to move forward as an NA and I hope I’ll see you again soon! Thank you so much!”
“Megan stayed late to help do a C-section because there wasn’t a nurse at the time. Once there was a nurse circulating in the operating room, Megan was able to support the mom and be with her because it was an urgent C-section and the patient’s family couldn’t get there in time for the procedure. I know that made the patient feel better because Megan had been taking care of the patient in triage.
Megan always impacts others because she is a strong team player and patient advocate! We love having Megan on our team!!!!”
