Required Qualifications for Nursing Applicants

2 Years of Hospital Experience
In one of these areas: Med Surg, Emergency, ICU or Stepdown

BLS Certification
Required at time of application

Visa Screen Certificate (CGFNS)
Not required during selection or visa process

Bachelor’s or Associate Degree
Bachelor’s required within 5 years of employment

English Competency Exam (IELTS)
Must be passed at time of application

Passed NCLEX-RN Exam
Required at time of application

Frequently Asked Questions About Bridge-to-Success
A one-year program offering clinical, mental, emotional, and spiritual support to international staff transitioning to the U.S.
- 5 weeks of initial training: classroom, skills, and shadowing
- Topics include communication, cultural values, U.S. nursing roles, healthcare system, patient rights, and policies
- Pre-orientation shadowing in hospital units
- Ongoing staff follow-up throughout the year
- Community-building with past and current participants
After completing the 5-week training, you’ll be placed in your unit with a trained preceptor. Orientation length depends on your unit and experience level.
Uniforms can be purchased via the Kettering Health intranet after arrival. Please bring at least one uniform.
- Med Surg & ICU RNs: Black and royal blue scrubs
- ED RNs: Black and red scrubs
Ratios vary by unit and patient acuity:
- Med Surg: 1:5–6
- ICU: 1:2
