May 25 was National Stop the Bleed Day, and employees from Kettering Health Dayton, Kettering Health Hamilton, and Kettering Health Main Campus recognized the observance by raising awareness of the importance of knowing how to slow bleeding in an emergent situation.
Uncontrolled bleeding is the leading cause of preventable death from injury. Stop the Bleed training provides the knowledge necessary to control bleeding until help arrives. A person severely bleeding can bleed to death in as little as five minutes, which is why it’s critical to be able to control the blood in an emergency.

Kettering Health offers free Stop the Bleed trainings to the public at least once a month. Kettering Medical Center Trauma Program and MedFlight partner to offer these one-hour sessions to prepare bystanders to save a life by stopping uncontrolled bleeding. The Stop the Bleed program teaches the three quick actions needed to save a life.
