When employees consistently demonstrate our Kettering Health values, they deserve to be recognized. And that’s exactly what our 10 March Employees of the Month do as they carry out our mission.
Employee of the Month recognizes the people you love to work with. The winners exhibit Kettering Health’s Standards of Behavior, live out our values, and demonstrate the healing presence practices outlined in Called to Care.
Thank you for impacting the lives of those in our community by fulfilling our mission. Our work wouldn’t be possible without you!

“Lisa goes over and above her faculty workload expectations. She is kind and approachable to all of her students. This semester, Lisa’s schedule could be considered “overtime” due to some calculation challenges, but she still took the time to tutor and help students without complaining. Her dedication goes beyond expectations, demonstrating her commitment and compassion for students’ success. We consider ourselves blessed for having such a dedicated faculty in the Division of Nursing.”
“Lisa has been outstanding as a tutor. She has only done this for a year or two, but students find her caring, knowledgeable, and concerned for their success. Lisa never complains about her workload and this semester has gone above and beyond to help students with their academic needs.”
“Rhonda is a role model in recognizing when physicians’ orders don’t match the scheduled procedure and working with the physician’s office to get the correct orders in time to prevent any delays to patient care. She is our champion who does all our handwashing audits every month. Rhonda is highly competent in all aspects of pre- and post-procedural care, and helps to improve communication through our three departments to ensure smooth patient care from start to finish. I witness her talking with patients and their families daily, putting them at ease during a nerve-wracking time. Her collaboration between not only our departments but also the Post-anesthesia Care Unit, Cardiac Step Down Unit, Surgical Intensive Care Unit, and the Operations Command Center helps to proactively ensure our patients get the correct care. We can always rely on Rhonda to help us find what we need.”
“Hilarie goes above and beyond EACH and EVERY day in the Jamestown office! She works with six different resident physicians and two attending residents every week, handling constantly changing schedules, physician messages and tasks, and a variety of procedural and women’s health care visits without missing a beat. More than that, she brings a level of clinical excellence along with compassionate, patient-centered care that is rarely found. She has embraced the unique challenges and joys that come with working in a residency training environment, and we are so thankful for her!
Hilarie’s outstanding work ethic and positive attitude set the tone for the entire clinical staff team. She is a tremendous asset to the entire KH Jamestown Health Center team, not just the resident clinic.”
“During a busy day, Thomas went to take a quick break and grab a coffee. When he returned to the unit, he immediately came to tell me about his new perspective on the day. He saw a notably upset visitor and asked if he was doing ok. The visitor shared how his wife was in the Intensive Care Unit, his baby was in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and the struggles they had had getting pregnant. Thomas sat with the visitor and offered his support. Thomas’ reaction showed how much of an impact that visitor had had on him. Thomas shared how he felt very grateful for what he had and no longer was worried about his busy day. As fate would have it, a week later, Thomas was assigned the visitor’s wife as one of his patients. When doing nurse leader rounding, the husband shared how much it meant that Thomas had comforted him in the lobby that day.”
“Brian seriously makes every shift better. He is always kind and helpful with the nurses as a charge nurse and in general. He holds the unit together and without him, we would be nothing. He always has good vibes, is always helpful, is quick to act, and deserves all the Shooting Stars and then some. He is a role model for how to be a good person and a fantastic nurse. I’m blessed to have him as my co-worker and friend. His positivity and good vibes impact the entire unit. The shifts run more smoothly (even when they seem to be falling apart). He is always as calm as a cucumber.”
“Tonya learned during an appointment reminder call to a PET patient that they had limited mobility and used a Hoyer lift at home to transfer. The patient was very concerned about mobility challenges and the compatibility of her home equipment and hospital equipment. After work, Tonya delivered a compatible sling to the patient’s home, enabling her caregivers to put it in her wheelchair and help her prepare for using the hospital equipment. By visiting the patient at home, she was able to alleviate fear by sharing what to expect during her appointment. Tonya is always kind, compassionate, and patient-focused. Tonya went above and beyond to create trust and show compassion to a patient receiving diagnostic testing.”
“Bethany talked to a patient on the phone who needed to cancel an appointment for a routine follow-up of her aneurysm. She noticed the patient sounded very short of breath and asked more questions. She advised the patient to go to an emergency center where it was found that she had very low oxygen levels. Bethany went above and beyond and potentially saved this patient from harm. Great catch, Bethany!
Bethany helped avoid patient harm by directing her to the correct location rather than just providing a basic appointment reschedule.”
“When she was sitting upstairs on her lunch break, Mitzi assisted with calling a Rapid Response on a visitor in the hallway connecting to the physician office building. After calling her co-workers in PBX to request the Rapid Response team, she waited at the front of the hall so that the Rapid Response team would know where to go and grabbed a wheelchair for the team.
Our PBX operators in our call center are used to taking the phone calls and are not typically involved in the patient-facing side of a Rapid Response call, but Mitzi was able to effectively apply her skills and knowledge to ensure the patient received help as quickly as possible.”
“Stephanie is such an amazing team player. She comes in to work every day just a little early to make sure all the patients have their discharge instructions printed and that they are accurate. She makes sure that the prescriptions being sent are at the patient’s pharmacy. I remember many occasions when Stephanie would go above and beyond making sure the patients have everything they need for when they go home. She is amazing with the total joint patients and has been instrumental in helping them achieve discharge criteria so they can go home the same day. She is so organized she makes the rest of us look bad—in a good way.”
“James ALWAYS comes in with a positive attitude and helps out anyone who asks! Whenever we need a room cleaned quickly or a deep clean, he is always on it. If he is busy at the time of the request, he makes a game plan and lets us know. James helped us by taking a large object out to the trash and off our hands, saving us time to put toward patient care! He really is a team player and deserves to be recognized! Thank you, James!
James has a great attitude, and it shows us daily that no matter what, it is important to show up with a positive attitude and lend a helping hand to help out our teammates!”
