Caring, competent, collaborative, innovative, and trustworthy: these are the values we ask you to demonstrate as you carry out our mission through your work.
In January, we recognized ten team members as Employees of the Month for consistently being their best for our patients and their co-workers.
Employee of the Month recognizes the people you love to work with. The winners exhibit Kettering Health’s Standards of Behavior, live out our values, and demonstrate the healing presence practices outlined in Called to Care.
Thank you for impacting the lives of those in our community by fulfilling our mission. Our work wouldn’t be possible without you!

“Judith has consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic, a spirit of collaboration amongst her peers, and always looks at her world of work through the lens of putting students at the center of her decision-making. Judith has taken on an extremely heavy lift over the past few months where she was the full-time residence hall administrator, interim director of campus ministries and campus chaplain, and the acting Title IX coordinator.
Now that the dust has settled, Judith serves as the director of campus ministries and campus chaplain full time and our campus is already seeing the benefits of her being in this role. Our collective programming has never had more participants and Judith is finding ways to connect our students to each other, our faculty/staff, and, most importantly, to Jesus.
Judith has such a warm and comforting personality. It’s amazing to see our students flock to her. I am so proud of Judith, thankful for her, and even more excited to see how much greater of an impact she can have on our campus’ spiritual community/identity.”
“Tabitha has consistently demonstrated exceptional dedication, proficiency, and a strong commitment to our team and the well-being of our patients. When another long-term technician left, Tabitha proactively and energetically stepped up to learn all of the open roles and responsibilities to ensure that the pharmacy continued to operate efficiently. Tabitha has also trained other technicians during this time, always helping when needed. She embodies the qualities we seek in an outstanding pharmacy technician.
Tabitha always has a cheerful attitude and smile. She helps to create a warm and welcoming environment for anyone who comes to the pharmacy.”
“Carla goes above and beyond to give kindness and compassion not only to her patients but also to her co-workers. Carla lends a helping hand with no hesitation and is always willing to help others learn and grow. On multiple occasions, she has taken the time to help me learn and grow as a new grad with complete patience and understanding.
Carla’s actions make me eager to come to work when I see that she is on the schedule. I know that I won’t be looked down upon as a new grad due to her always willing to extend her knowledge in a patient and compassionate manner.”
Lisa set up an anniversary dinner for a patient and her husband, complete with flowers from the gift shop and Valentine’s Day décor so this important day wouldn’t be missed. A thank-you note from the patient is below.
“My stay with all of you was quite an unbelievable experience. I thank all of you for your caring, professional attention. My husband and I especially thank you for all the extra attention and for celebrating our 61st wedding anniversary in such a kind and fun way. I told everyone that I had traded a wedding gown for a hospital gown. We appreciated the flowers, card, and balloon, but especially all of you! Thank you all again!”
“Michaela entered our office expressing concerns for a patient she had formed a connection with over a long admission. This patient had no cell phone or personal items, had not spoken with her family, and was concerned they wouldn’t know her whereabouts during discharge. Michaela took it upon herself to help the patient find her family via social media since the patient didn’t have any phone numbers. She also placed an order from Walmart for basic clothing items and shoes so the patient would have personal belongings when she was discharged to rehabilitation.”
“I was sitting at my desk working and started having chest pain. I called Krista, she ran me down to the emergency center, they started taking blood and did an EKG, and said that I was having a heart attack. I was so scared, but Krista did not leave my side. She called my family to let them know what was going on. They rush me to Kettering Health Dayton for an emergency heart catheter. Krista came to KH Dayton and stayed there with me until my family arrived. Krista went above and beyond the call of duty. I’m so thankful for her and the way she kept me calm through this whole ordeal. I will always be so grateful to her. I feel that she saved my life. She deserves to be employee of the month and more. Krista always jumps in to help others and she never complains, she just does it. She is an excellent employee.”
“Jeremy Parker is an amazing blessing to the entire emergency center. I have never in my 12 years of working for this network met a harder-working, more kind-hearted, problem-solving individual. He is so good about taking care of both employees and patients. He just helped lift a patient in bed, then ran to do an EKG, and then helped another patient who had gotten sick all over themselves. He never complains about being tired or about how he is called in multiple directions. He inspires us all to work harder and give more.”
“Dylan always goes above and beyond for his co-workers! During a shift we were struggling with labs, Dylan went room to room helping almost all of us with labs! He is always there to lend a helping hand and he always has an amazing attitude about it!
Dylan is always encouraging and helping those who need it!”
“I’d like to nominate Kevin Emmerson for his role in the extremely successful Twas the Shift Before Christmas video. I have watched the video three times, each being an amazing experience, though watching amid co-workers at the town hall session in early December and hearing their reactions was my favorite. I knew I had to submit this nomination when the video was described as some of Marketing’s best work before it was played for the group. From having Colson read the poem, to featuring so many of our employees from across various roles and locations, to incorporating bloopers from filming, this video steals the show. You can’t help but wear a huge smile on your face as you watch it. Kevin deserves to be Employee of the Month for not only the creativity of the idea for the video, the persistence of not giving up on the idea year after year, but also the amount of time he dedicated to capturing the footage that made this video spectacular. He went to numerous campuses (if not all of them) to capture the footage, and then proceeded to work into the early morning hours on editing.
Kevin is a rockstar go-getter with an incredible attitude and sense of humor. We are so lucky to have him on our team and this is just one of many examples that display that.”
“Kevin is a very hard worker who goes above and beyond to help other staff out. We had a very busy shift together with a few critical patients all at once and he was right there helping me with everything without asking or complaining, and with a smile on his face.
He made a big difference on my shift at Soin’s emergency center when three out of four of my patients were critical and I got three medics all at once. He was right beside me, sweating with me and helping do all he could do without being asked or complaining about it. That is a true team player. The patients loved him and found comfort in his kindness. We had an elderly lady who needed a wrist reduction and was very scared. Kevin made her laugh and smile, and she remembered him by name and recognized him. He is awesome and deserves to be recognized. :)”
