We make a difference in our communities because of our outstanding people. And in April, we recognized ten team members as Employee of the Month for putting our mission into action each day.
Employee of the Month recognizes the people you love to work with. The winners exhibit Kettering Health’s Standards of Behavior, live out our values, and demonstrate the healing presence practices outlined in Called to Care.
Thank you for impacting the lives of those in our community by fulfilling our mission. Our work wouldn’t be possible without you!

“We had a patient on the unit with a psych history and head injury who wanted to leave AMA. He was oriented and able to make this decision and did decide to leave. He had minimal resources and no safe shelter. Our team was very concerned about all of this. Drew went above and beyond and went out to the bus stop in the freezing cold to find the patient and spent significant time with him to develop a relationship and convince him to trust us and come back to the emergency department. The patient was then able to get the care he needed and we could work to set up the resources the patient needed for safe healing! Drew truly went above and beyond in providing compassionate care! Our community needs more people like Drew that have their best interest at heart. Who go out of their way to make sure that the patient is set up for success and
to give the best quality care.”

“Barcode medication scanning is an everyday part of a nurse’s role. The goal is to scan 100% of patients and medications prior to scanning. However, there are barriers that prevent nurses from barcode scanning, such as barcode unreadable, emergency, etc. Based on the expected barriers, our goal for barcode medication administration is 98%. Our nurse, Jack Morgan, on IMC did not let any of those barriers prevent him from barcode scanning in 2024. In fact, Jack scanned 100% of his patients and medications for the ENTIRE YEAR! This totaled over 3900 scans for all of 2024 and not one missed!”

“I want to nominate Jay for a specific incident, but I think it is fair to first outline Jay’s willingness to participate in discussions that move items forward. Jay took over a department with a large backlog this year, and he impressively cleaned up many areas to get things back on track. He’s done this with fair, ethical, and honest questions and requests from his teammates and the ability to work with people well and to see process through and identify problems.
“Jay’s kindness and integrity were on display for me, personally, recently, when I had a strange
blood sugar incident at work. I began to feel faint after a stressful day and Jay identified the signs quickly that I may be having a blood sugar drop, so he quickly brought me his personal sugar tester as well as made sure I had the things I needed to recover and checked on me. Jay is always checking on me, and all of us in the department, to make sure we are doing ok and have what we need to bring our best to the job. Jay does a great job of identifying problems and doing his best to make everyone’s day a little bit easier. I appreciate having him as a teammate. We have a strong team of contributors and Jay is a big part of our process and successes.”

“John continually advocates for patient and employee safety. Interventional Radiology has been undergoing construction for several months. On a particular day, a contractor was working outside one of the Angio suites on a ladder. This ladder was located directly outside the door leading into the lab. To prevent anyone from hitting the employee on the ladder, John took it upon himself to warn all the employees about the potential for injury. He even made a sign to warn people of the potential hazard behind the door. By doing this, John prevented a potential injury. John promotes a positive and safe work environment for employees and patients. By doing this, he undoubtedly increases positive patient outcomes and employee satisfaction.”
