National Day of Prayer is an observance that asks people “to turn to God in prayer.” On this day, we pray for caregivers, patients and their families, first responders, those around the world who are suffering, and anyone in need of encouragement.
Below are details about activities happening at each campus. All events take place on Thursday, May 4 unless noted otherwise.
Kettering Health Behavioral Medical Center, Troy, and Piqua
Employees at the above locations will receive a special devotional thought on the power of praying together. Additionally, there will be a prayer tree in the entrance of each facility where people are encouraged to place their prayer requests and record answered prayers.
Kettering Health Dayton
Area clergy will visit patient floors and pray for patients and staff members. There will also be 10–15-minute prayer sessions at the chapel during the following times:
- 8–10 a.m.
- 11 a.m.– 1 p.m.
- 6–8 p.m.
Kettering Health Greene Memorial
There will be a prayer breakfast beginning at 7:30 a.m. in the cafeteria. Employees are asked to enter through the main entrance (north side of medical center).
Kettering Health Hamilton
Starting Wednesday, May 3, prayer boxes will be passed out to each department for employees to place prayer requests.
On Thursday, May 4, there will be three special moments of prayer for the entire hospital. They will take place at:
- 8 a.m.
- Noon
- 8 p.m.
There will also be chaplains available in the chapel throughout the day on Thursday, May 4 to pray with any staff or patients who need it.
Kettering Health Main Campus
There will be a prayer breakfast with KH Main Campus leadership, Oncology service line leadership, Kettering College leadership, KH system leadership, and Prestige leadership beginning at 7:30 a.m. in the Nelson Conference Room. It will begin with a welcome from Sharlet Briggs followed by a short devotional by Chaplain Elliot Smith. Then, prayers will be led by the following people:
- Mayor of Kettering Peggy Lehner: Praying for city and state leaders
- Kettering Chief of Police Chip Protsman: Praying for EMS and first responders
- KH Main Campus President Sharlet Briggs: Praying for our hospital and system leadership
- KH Main Campus Chaplain Elliot Smith: Praying for our nation
Kettering Health Miamisburg
Chaplain Tom Evans will be at the main lobby entrance welcoming people and passing out Bible prayer cards to all guests from 7-8 a.m. There will be a short prayer service at noon in the chapel.
Additionally, Chaplain Tom will round all departments throughout the day with the care cart and Bible prayer cards, and he will offer short prayers with those who are available.
Kettering Health Washington Township
There will be a short prayer service at noon in the chapel led by the chaplain. A free copy of “If My People: A Prayer Guide for our Nation,” will be available for each person in attendance.
Soin Medical Center
On Thursday, May 11 at 7:30 a.m., there will be a prayer breakfast in Kumar Conference Rooms V and K. Employees are asked to enter through the main entrance (north side of medical center).
