That’s why Kettering Health Network designed its new cancer center to provide the most advanced patient-centered care in an environment that is focused on healing the whole patient – body, mind and spirit.
A holistic approach to healthcare
Now open and serving patients, Kettering Cancer Center combines a highly skilled cancer team, the best cancer-fighting technology, personalized cancer care coordination, and numerous patient amenities all under one roof.
“The Kettering Cancer Center was designed by taking the best practices and designs from other leading cancer centers across the country and combining those ideas with actual input from the patients that we treat, as well as the staff and doctors that care for them,” explained E. Ronald Hale, MD, MPH, medical director of radiation oncology for Kettering Health Network.
With all physicians located in the same building, services offered at the Kettering Cancer Center are coordinated to provide a seamless, integrated care plan, addressing the body, mind and spirit of patients.
Treating the body
“The whole building is cutting-edge technology, in its concept and design,” said Dr. Hale.
Technological features of the center include:
- The latest radiation capabilities to target and kill tumors while sparing normal tissue. This allows quick and effective treatment with the least amount of collateral damage
- The area’s largest cancer infusion center, mixed with private and semi-private infusion rooms, designed to instill a peaceful sense of dignity during chemotherapy treatment
- A breast imaging center with state-of-the-art 3D mammography technology to diagnose breast cancer at the earliest stage possible
- Specialty pharmacies, including the largest cancer infusion pharmacy in the state of Ohio
- Extended-hours symptom management and urgent care services
“Bringing all of these technologies into one building with all of the doctors here under one roof is really a critical piece in receiving world-class cancer treatment,” explains Dr. Hale.
Treating the mind and spirit
“Even the best cancer treatment plan is useless if the patient can’t accomplish it. Our comprehensive cancer services will improve the odds of completing cancer treatment by addressing areas such as nutrition, spiritual needs, self-image, and supportive care. These areas often are neglected or missing from cancer treatment centers,” commented Dr. Hale.
