All Eligible Kettering Health Network Hospitals Receive A Safety Grade

Seven Kettering Health Network hospitals received an ‘A’ from the Leapfrog Group, a national patient safety watchdog, ranking among the safest hospitals in the United States.

The network hospitals receiving an “A” are:

  • Kettering Medical Center
  • Sycamore Medical Center
  • Grandview Medical Center
  • Southview Medical Center
  • Soin Medical Center
  • Greene Memorial Hospital
  • Fort Hamilton Hospital

Kettering Health Network’s newest hospital, Troy Hospital, opened in June 2019 and could not be graded because the data used for grading is from multiple years. Kettering Behavioral Medicine Center was not included because Leapfrog doesn’t grade certain specialty hospitals.

The Leapfrog Group’s Safety Grade looks at how well hospitals prevent medical errors and other harm to patients.

“Patient safety is one of our highest priorities,” says Brenda Kuhn, chief clinical officer for Kettering Health Network. “This award recognizes our staff and physicians’ continuous focus on providing the safest care to our patients.”

Developed under the guidance of a National Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.
