Hernia: Signs and Treatment Options
Only 15% of the five million people in the United States suffering from a hernia seek medical attention. Hernias form when a part of an internal organ or tissue bulges through a weak area of muscle, predominantly in the abdomen. Hernias vary in size and symptoms, with some people experiencing no symptoms at all. Risk factors for a hernia include obesity, smoking, heavy lifting, manual labor, and exercise.
Join our Kettering Health Chat where Paul Levy, DO and our hernia experts will explain the causes, signs, and symptoms of a hernia. We will also discuss treatment options, which include minimally invasive robotic-assisted surgery. Kettering Health uses the Da Vinci robot and will have a live interactive demonstration for attendees.
